Networking between research and business organisations in Lithuanian biotechnology sector

Abstract

The article presents the results of the analysis of the networking of research and business organisations. The purpose of the article is to prepare the methodological approach to analyze the networks of research and business organisations and to analyze the networking of the organisations in Lithuanian biotechnology sector. Methods of the research – evaluations of the heads (representatives) of the organisations, social network analysis. We have prepared the typology of the research and business networks and proposed the methodological approach for the analysis of the networks. This methodology was applied in order to identify the networks of research and business organisations of the Lithuanian biotechnology sector. The network position of the organisations was evaluated according to following centrality measures of social networks: degree centrality, Bonacich centrality, betweenness centrality.
